What Agent to WordPress does#
Agent to WordPress (On-page › Agent to WordPress) is a chat that changes your own WordPress site. Ask in plain words — "fix the missing SEO titles from my Site audit", "create a draft page for carpet cleaning in my city", "add LocalBusiness schema to the home page", "put Services first in the main menu" — and the agent reads your site, prepares the change and shows it to you before anything happens.
It is on every plan (Free, Solo, Business, Pro and Agency). You pay per use, in credits: a chat message and each applied change have a price shown before you confirm; previews and Undo are free.
It reads your setup#
With the Rankfinity Connector plugin 1.4.0 the agent knows your SEO plugin, page builder, cache plugin and theme without you saying a word. Pages built with Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Beaver Builder, Oxygen or WPBakery keep their text inside the builder, so the agent refuses to rewrite that text (it would not show, or could break the page) and says so; it can still change their SEO fields, schema, redirects and menus. For Gutenberg pages (on by default) it can change just the wording of paragraphs, headings, list items and buttons; for Elementor and Divi pages the same text-only editing exists but is switched off until it has been tested on a live site (see the plugin page). WordPress multisite networks are not supported: the agent refuses to write there. You can pause the agent from WordPress (Rankfinity (main menu)). The agent can also add alt text to images in the Media Library. After each applied change or undo, it clears the cache of that one page where it can, and tells you when you need to clear a CDN yourself. If you edited a page by hand after the agent changed it, Undo asks before it replaces your edit.
What it can change — and what it cannot#
The agent works with a fixed set of safe actions through the WordPress REST API:
- create a page or post (always a draft unless you clearly ask to publish);
- change the title, text, slug or excerpt of a page or post, or find and replace words inside one;
- add a block (for example an FAQ) to the end of a page;
- set the SEO fields of a page or post in Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO: SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, canonical address, noindex, and the social (Open Graph) title, description and image;
- add schema (JSON-LD) to a page;
- set the featured image (from an image address or the Media Library);
- add alt text to the images inside a page or post;
- add internal links inside the text of a page or post (only to your own site, never inside a heading or an existing link);
- add categories and tags to a post;
- add, remove or reorder menu items;
- add or remove a redirect (301 or 302);
- set the text of llms.txt and robots.txt, or build llms.txt from your published pages;
- set up the sitemap and publishing automation (see below);
- promote a post (see below).
It cannot run code, edit theme or plugin files, change WordPress settings, users or plugins, or delete a page or post. Asked for that, it says so.
Forms and WooCommerce (plugin 1.6.0)#
With the Rankfinity Connector plugin 1.6.0 the agent can also edit the texts of other plugins — always as a preview first, then Apply (the same price as any change), then Undo with the exact old text. These changes go to the live site, so Apply asks you to confirm that.
Forms — Contact Form 7, WPForms and Gravity Forms (the agent finds out which you have). It can change, per form:
- the label and placeholder of a text field, and whether the field is required;
- the submit button text and the confirmation message shown after sending;
- the notification recipient — one valid email address. The preview shows the old and the new address and marks this as high impact, because new messages will go to the new address.
It never touches form logic or conditional rules, integrations and API keys, payment settings, the email template, files or code, and it does not edit payment, hidden or file-upload fields. Asked for any of that, it refuses and says what it can do instead. Labels and placeholders are plain text: no HTML, square brackets or quotes.
WooCommerce — for a product it can change the title, the short and long description (text with paragraphs, lists, bold, italic, headings and links only; scripts, images, frames and styles are removed), the alt text of the product's own images, and the SEO title and description in your SEO plugin. It can change a product category description, and it can check whether a product page has complete Product schema (read only). It never changes prices, stock, SKU, orders, customers, coupons, or payment and shipping settings.
Only WordPress users with the right to do it can be used: forms need an administrator, products and categories an administrator or shop manager. If the connected user has fewer rights, the agent tells you in one sentence and nothing changes.
Promote a post#
Ask "promote my new post about …" and the agent prepares one preview with everything together:
- publish the post if it is still a draft;
- add it to a menu, if you name one;
- add a short "Related:" link to it from 2–3 related published posts;
- submit its address to IndexNow after publishing (only when IndexNow is set up for the site in Site audit);
- a draft Business Profile post about it, shown in the preview for you to copy — publishing to Google stays a separate step in On-page › Business posts.
It is one change with one price. If something fails halfway, everything already written is put back and nothing is charged. Undo reverts all of it, except the IndexNow submission that was already sent.
Sitemap, redirects and llms.txt#
- Sitemap. The agent finds your sitemap (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or the WordPress core sitemap). If no plugin provides one, it can turn on the WordPress core sitemap, and it can add a
Sitemap:line to your robots.txt. - Publishing automation — off until you ask for it: notify IndexNow every time a post or page is published, and rebuild llms.txt from your published pages on every publish. Rebuilding replaces any llms.txt text written by hand, which is why it is optional.
- Redirects go into the Redirection plugin or Rank Math's Redirections module when one of them is active; otherwise into a small list kept by the Rankfinity Connector plugin.
A real robots.txt or llms.txt file in the root of your site always wins over the one WordPress serves.
Preview, apply, undo#
Every change comes as a preview card: what will change (before and after, word by word), on which page, and whether it is live (a published page, a menu, llms.txt or robots.txt — visitors see it) or not (a draft).
- Apply writes the change to your site. A live change also needs the tick "I understand this will change the live site".
- You can also apply from the chat: reply "yes" and the code shown on the card (for a live change add "change the live site").
- Cancel drops a preview. A preview older than 30 minutes has to be made again.
- Undo puts back what was there before. The agent saves the "before" state right before writing. An uploaded image stays in your Media Library; a removed menu item comes back with a new id.
- If someone edited the page after the preview, Apply stops and asks for a new preview, so nobody's work is overwritten.
At most five changes are prepared per message — review them, then ask for the next ones.
Credits#
- Each message to the agent costs the credits shown on the Send button.
- Each applied change costs the credits shown on the Apply button. A change the site refuses costs nothing.
- Previews, Cancel and Undo are free.
See Credits and prices for the current numbers.
Connecting your site#
The agent uses the same WordPress connection as the Content writer. Press Connect with WordPress (or Connect WordPress in Site audit, or the WordPress button in the Content writer) and a window walks you through it:
- Site address. Type it — a bare domain such as
example.comis fine;https://is added for you. Rankfinity checks the address straight away and tells you in one sentence what it found: a WordPress site with application passwords turned on, application passwords turned off (they need WordPress 5.6 or newer and HTTPS, and some security plugins switch them off), no WordPress at that address, or a redirect to another address ("Your site sends visitors to … — use that address"). It also shows ✓ Already active when the Rankfinity Connector plugin is installed. The check only reads; it never blocks the button. - Install the Rankfinity Connector plugin. Download the plugin (.zip), then in WordPress Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin › Install Now › Activate. See WordPress plugin.
- Approve Rankfinity in your WordPress. Continue to WordPress opens your WordPress admin in the same tab. Log in if asked and press Yes, I approve of this connection — WordPress creates an application password for Rankfinity by itself and sends you straight back, connected. Nothing to copy.
- Back in Rankfinity the screen shows Connected · your-site.com. Nothing on your site changes until you apply a change yourself.
If anything goes wrong, the reason is written under the button. Two fallbacks sit under the steps:
- Or use a pairing code from the plugin — in WordPress open Rankfinity (main menu), press Create pairing code (it works once, for 30 minutes), copy the site link and the code into Rankfinity, then go back to WordPress and press Approve. The screen updates by itself.
- Use an application password instead — create one in WordPress › Users › Profile › Application Passwords and paste it with your WordPress user name.
The password is stored encrypted and is never shown again — not even to you. To remove the access, delete "Rankfinity" in WordPress › Users › Profile › Application Passwords, or disconnect WordPress in Rankfinity.
The same changes are available from Claude or ChatGPT through the Rankfinity MCP connector: wp_changes (read), wp_preview_change, wp_apply_change and wp_undo_change — writing needs Allow changes on the connection and a credit confirmation.
What needs the plugin#
Pages, posts, menus, images, categories and tags work with WordPress alone. The SEO fields, schema, llms.txt, robots.txt, the sitemap and publishing automation, and redirects need the free Rankfinity Connector plugin — version 1.3.0 for focus keyword, canonical, noindex, social fields, All in One SEO, the sitemap, redirects and the generated llms.txt. With an older plugin (or none) the SEO title and description still go through the older route where possible, and the agent tells you which change needs the newer plugin. With no SEO plugin active, it says so and writes nothing.
Other ways in#
- Content writer › editor › Send to WordPress with the agent — the article becomes a draft preview.
- Site audit › an issue, "Fix these first" or the Action Plan › Fix with Agent to WordPress — the agent gets the check, the affected addresses and how to fix it, finds each page and prepares previews. Issues that live on the server (certificate, response times, redirects at the server) say why the agent cannot fix them. See the full loop below.
- On-page tools › schema, meta, FAQ, llms.txt and robots.txt › Push to WordPress — pick the page, get a preview.
- AI Assistant — ask it to change something on your site and it answers with an Open in Agent to WordPress button that opens this screen with the request already written. Nothing is sent or changed until you press Send here and then Apply.
Working together with the AI Assistant#
Site audit, Agent to WordPress and the AI Assistant hand work to each other as text — nothing is sent or applied by itself:
- Ask the AI assistant sits next to every Site audit issue, including the ones the agent cannot fix. The assistant opens with the issue already written in the box, so you can ask what it means or how to fix it on the server.
- Explain with the AI assistant on every change card (a preview or an applied change) opens the assistant with that change filled in.
- From the assistant, Open in Agent to WordPress goes the other way.
The message is only filled in; you read it and press Send yourself, because a message costs credits on the screen where it is sent. Clients do not see these buttons.
From Site audit to fixed — the full loop#
Site audit shows at the top whether WordPress is connected: WordPress connected · your-site.com, or WordPress not connected with a Connect WordPress button that opens the same connection window as this screen.
- Pick what to fix. Every issue the agent can fix in WordPress has Fix with Agent to WordPress; inside an issue each affected page also has Fix this page. Fix all with Agent to WordPress (Summary and Action Plan) takes every fixable issue at once. Issues that live on the server or in the hosting say so in one sentence instead.
The agent can fix: SEO titles and descriptions (including identical titles), headings, social previews, image alt text and featured images, schema, orphan pages and internal links, thin or old text, short answer paragraphs, llms.txt — and, with the plugin 1.3.0, broken (404) and mistyped addresses (a redirect to the right page, which you approve), canonical problems and noindex settings in your SEO plugin.
- See the price first. Before anything starts you see how many agent messages it takes and what they cost, what each applied change costs, and what the re-check costs per page. The agent prepares at most five previews per message, so a big audit runs as several messages, one after another ("Message 2 of 4"). If WordPress is not connected yet, you connect it first and the task continues by itself.
- Approve. All previews come back in one list. Untick what you do not want and press Apply all approved, or apply them one by one. A change to a published page also needs the tick "I understand this will change the live site". Undo stays free.
- Re-check. After you apply, Re-check the changed pages crawls only those pages again (the price of a one-page audit per page) and marks each issue Fixed by the agent · verified or Still failing, with the reason. A check that compares pages with each other (for example identical titles) cannot be confirmed on one page — it says "not measured" and the next full site crawl confirms it.
A page that already has a waiting preview or an applied fix for the same issue is not sent to the agent again, so nothing is paid twice. After an Undo the page can be fixed again.
Who can use it#
Owners and team members with edit access. Clients and view-only members see the Changes list but cannot send messages, apply or undo.
Ready-made tasks#
The starters under the chat use eight built-in skills: fix SEO titles and descriptions, build a service or location page, add schema, add internal links, refresh an old post, tidy the menu, promote a post, and set up the sitemap, redirects and llms.txt.
