## Two screens, two jobs

Rankfinity has two keyword screens under **SEO tools** in the left menu:

- **Keyword** — everything about **one** keyword: monthly volume, difficulty, competition, intent, the volume trend and the current Google results page.
- **Research** — **many** keywords: suggestions and ideas around a seed word, and checking a list you already have.

Both use the language and location of the selected project by default. You can change them in the form before you run.

## Keyword: one keyword in depth

1. Open **Keyword**.
2. Type the keyword, check the location and language, and click **Run**. The price is on the button.
3. The result opens on the same screen.

What you see:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Volume/mo | Average monthly searches in the chosen location |
| KD | Keyword difficulty, 0–100. Higher means harder to rank in the top 10 |
| Competition | How competitive the keyword is for advertisers |
| Intent | What the searcher wants: informational, navigational, commercial or transactional |
| Trend | Monthly volume for the last 24 months as a bar chart |

**Search trend.** The trend chart opens on **24 months** of monthly searches, included on every plan. **12 months** is a closer look at the same data. **60 months** is available on every plan: the first time you open it for a keyword and location it costs 20 credits (shown on the button); after that it is stored and free for your whole team. On other plans the 60-month tab is locked and nothing is charged.

**Results page.** Below the metrics is the Google results page for the keyword, starting from position 1. Everything with a position is shown — ads, the local pack, featured snippets, "People also ask", AI Overview and organic results — each labelled with its type. Use the chips **All**, **Organic only** and **Features** to filter. Organic results also show their organic rank, so you can see that "organic #1" may sit at position 5 on the page.

If a metric does not exist for the keyword, the screen says so instead of showing 0.

### + track

Click **+ track** to add the keyword to Rank tracking for the current project. If the project has a Business Profile, the option **Track on the map** also adds it to map scans. Adding never starts a paid scan on its own.

### Your lookups

When the keyword field is empty, Keyword shows **Your lookups** — every keyword you looked up before: keyword, location and language, date, volume, KD, competition and intent.

- Click a row to open the stored result. Opening is **free**; the screen says "from <date>".
- **Refresh · N credits** fetches fresh data.
- Sort by any column and search the list.
- Delete one row with ✕ or click **Clear history**.
- The ✕ in the keyword field brings you back to the table.

When a longer lookup finishes, a notice appears in the project bell so you can open it later.

## Research: finding new keywords

1. Open **Research**.
2. Enter a seed word, for example "garden lighting".
3. Choose **Suggestions** (keywords that contain your seed) or **Ideas** (related keywords that may not contain it).
4. Click **Search**. The price is on the button.

Results show volume, difficulty (KD), CPC, intent and trend for each keyword. Group them by intent or by topic to see clusters. Tick the ones you want and add them to the project's Rank tracking.

### Check a list

**Check a list** takes your own keywords — up to 100 per check, one per line — and returns monthly volume, difficulty and intent for each. Nothing is added to the project until you tick and add. The price for the whole list is shown before you confirm.

### Your lookups in Research

Research keeps its own lookups list: seed, location, date, number of ideas and total volume. Click a row to reopen the result for free.

## Tips for choosing keywords

- **Start with what you already rank for.** **Settings › Project › Autofill keywords** suggests keywords your site already appears for, which are the fastest wins.
- **Match intent to the page.** A transactional keyword ("book garden lighting installation") needs a service page, not a blog post.
- **Local businesses: add the city.** "emergency plumber" and "emergency plumber riverside" behave differently; track both if both matter.
- **Use KD with your own strength.** A new site should start with low and medium difficulty keywords.
- **Check Search Console.** **Search Console › Keywords** with the preset **Striking distance** shows queries where you are at positions 4–20 with real impressions. These are often better targets than new research.

## Clusters: which keywords are one topic

Open **Keyword research › Clusters** and paste a list of keywords. Two keywords belong to the same cluster when their top-10 Google results share enough addresses; the groups chain, so related keywords end up together. The same grouping is available for your tracked keywords on **Rank tracking** (group by cluster), and that one is free: the results are already saved.

New keywords cost **10 credits each**. Keywords you already track, or whose results were saved recently, are free. The price is shown before you run the list, and the export (CSV) is free.

## Batch analysis: many domains at once

Open **Research** and paste up to your plan's limit of domains or URLs, separated by spaces, commas or new lines (a URL counts as its domain). You get one table with domain rating or rank, backlinks, referring domains, organic keywords, estimated traffic, spam score and first seen.

It costs **10 credits per 10 domains**, and only for domains not checked in the last 30 days - the others come from the saved copy for nothing. The price is shown before the run. The run is saved to the project's history. Where the source does not give a first-seen date, the table says "not measured" rather than a date.

## Saved reports

Some lookups can be saved with **Save report**. Saved reports are under **Data › Saved** and open without any new request.

## Common questions

**Why does volume differ from other tools?**
Volume is an estimate and every tool rounds it differently. Use it to compare keywords with each other, not as an exact number.

**Why is CPC missing for me?**
Cost-per-click is a market figure in currency. It is shown only to administrators.

**Can I look up keywords in another country?**
Yes. Change the location in the form before you run. The project setting stays the same.

**Does adding keywords from Research cost credits?**
No. The search costs credits; adding results to the project is free. Later rank checks are charged when they run.

**I opened an old lookup. Is it stale?**
It shows the data from the date in the header. Click **Refresh** if you need current numbers.
